About the Role

Base Location: Glasgow, Perth, or Reading

Salary: £40,600 - £61,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract | Flexible First options available

What is the Role?

At SSE we have an exciting opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic auditor to join our Group Compliance Operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in energy or auditing to operate under professional audit standards, and in accordance with our Quality Management System. Building strong relationships with business units, you'll independently conduct end-to-end compliance reviews in line with the Compliance Monitoring Programme. Your role extends to interpreting complex regulatory obligations, collaborating with various business functions, and engaging directly with senior managers.

The main responsibilities of this role are:

- Carrying out compliance audits which scrutinise the activities of SSE's seven business units and corporate support functions to assess compliance with regulatory and legal obligations, and with internal procedural/policy requirements.

- Communicating review findings in a concise, logical, and professional manner to key stakeholders at all levels.

- Consulting with senior managers to agree work scope and action plans to mitigate findings.

- Developing an in depth understanding of relevant regulation and legislation for an assigned business unit and assisting that business to identify key compliance risks.

- Contributing to the development of Group Compliance Operations processes.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we'd love you to have:

- Current Audit Professional qualification e.g., Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or International Compliance Association (ICA) Diploma in Governance, Risk & Compliance (or equivalent), and relevant professional experience.

- Sound knowledge and experience of the regulatory rules which govern energy and/or financial markets.

- Excellent report writing skills, good attention to detail, ability to manage your time and workload efficiently, have first class negotiation/influencing skills and be structured in approach and resilient in character.

- Strong communication skills with the ability and confidence to build effective working relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders.

There will be a requirement to spend half your time in an SSE office and to travel across the UK and Ireland, and possibly internationally.
