About the Role

Base Location: Perth, Inverness, or Aberdeen

Salary: £63,000 - £94,400 + car /car allowance + performance related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Join SSE’s Transmission business as an HR Business Partner where you’ll have a unique opportunity to shape the people strategy for a rapidly expanding business. This is your chance to step into a role that blends strategic influence, leadership, and hands-on HR expertise, all while working alongside senior leaders driving the growth of the UK’s energy infrastructure. The main duties of the role include:

  • Supporting the HR Director in navigating the growing complexity of our Transmission business and the ambitious expansion required to deliver T2, T3, and ASTI simultaneously.
  • Acting as depute to the HR Director, liaising with the Managing Director, board members, and senior business leaders at Exco level as needed.
  • Leading a small team of HR Managers, providing HR partnering support and driving the creation and execution of people plans that align with the overarching HR strategy.
  • Leading or supporting the development of new HR initiatives and creating detailed HR strategies and papers to in support of these initiatives.
  • Coordinate Transmission-wide talent management, organisational design, and inclusion and diversity activities to ensure timely delivery against both Transmission-specific and wider group plans.

What will I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Experience as a commercial business partner with broad generalist HR expertise across all HR disciplines, including organisational design and talent management, ideally with experience spanning more than one sector.
  • Proven experience in creating and implementing people strategies in growth organisations, with strong written communication skills.
  • Strong people management experience, guiding and inspiring teams to deliver.
  • Excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to present at board level.
  • Skilled in using technology to manipulate data and create impactful presentations.
