About the Role

Base Location: Flexible Scotland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around Scotland.

Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Construction Manager to oversee the construction function on the delivery of a programme of large capital projects in the Argyll region. The successful candidate will also support development of SSEN Transmission construction site processes and procedures, working in collaboration with other Lead Construction Managers. Reporting to a Lead Project Manager, you will lead the construction teams to consistently represent the business across your assigned sites, ensuring site activities are carried out safely and in accordance with the specified contract requirements and SSEN Transmission policies and procedures.

The key duties & responsibilities will to:

- Provide functional management and leadership to the construction team. Supporting recruitment and development of team members, such as Construction Site Managers, Construction Site Supervisors and Trainee Site Construction Managers, in line with core role competencies. Liaise with all internal functions to ensure all SSEN Transmission site activities are adequately resourced.

- Ensure consistent detailed contemporary records are maintained at all sites.

- Work collaboratively with other Lead Construction Managers to identify gaps in existing processes and systems. Define and document requirements to produce and maintain construction manuals for all aspects of the construction team role (outlining step-by-step detail, processes, systems and associated documentation to be utilised on site).

- Support Project and Contract Managers on programme and commercial matters and the wider business, providing expert advice on construction considerations. For example, providing targeted support and advice relating to substation site selection, route selection for OHLs and UGCs, programme development, drafting and issue of Project Specific Works Information, review of Contractor ITT returns and front end design deliverables, initial commissioning development plans, outage planning and operational interface requirements.

- Manage external stakeholder engagement for all construction matters and lead safety forums with SHW colleagues.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Proven experience of leading teams, overseeing large-scale, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

- An understanding of NEC forms of contracts including previous experience fulfilling the role of NEC Supervisor including oversight of all site inspection and test activity required to confirm works are implemented in accordance with the Works Information.

- Hold or have recently held certificates for site access including CSCS / EUSR or similar and site management qualifications including NEBOSH, IOSH, SMSTS (5-day) or equivalent.

- In-depth knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation and CDM 2015 Regulations.

- Demonstrate an understanding of being the 'Client' from a CDM and contractual perspective in construction management processes and systems.

Please note, a full current driving license is essential due to the requirement to travel to and be on site.
