About the Role
As the Lead Technical Specialist within Energy Markets IT, you'll join the Front Office (Access to Markets) value stream where you'll play a key role in delivering a range of technical services by following and adapting Agile and DevOps to meet the business outcomes.
Allegro the key application used by the Energy Traders 24/7 is a Platinum service, hosted on the SSE cloud platform. Third party trading exchanges feed data into the Allegro central repository and they are critical to SSE to balance its energy position.
Your role will be to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team of technical resources to develop and support the IT solutions and services aligned with your product owner and key business processes.
You will provide guidance and direction on a wide-ranging view of technical changes and operational support including assurance of service transition during the DevOps cycle. You will work closely with the Product Owner and Delivery Lead to support the delivery of key products. Your knowledge and influence will facilitate the ongoing maintenance and development of our core applications.
Key responsibilities for this role will include:
- Designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring and supporting significant components within a modern digital service platform pipeline across production and near production environments.
- Applying industry best practices and patterns across infrastructure and application components e.g. security, elasticity, performance.
- Providing the focal point for advice, guidance and technical input of own area through knowledge transfer, one to one workshops and mentoring of other team members as required.
- Managing major IT incidents to resolution within defined SLAs and utilising problem management to avoid repeat occurrences.
- Be part of an out of hours on-call support rota. (1 week in 4).
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Multiple Agile environment full SDLC under your belt from a DevOps Engineering perspective with a preference for building applications with Azure experience or other DevOps tools such as Github/Git.
- Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages (C#.net, Java, Python, Ruby, Shell).
- Extensive experience in Build & Release Management, Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD), ideally using Azure DevOps (pipelines, repos, releases) to release software to production.
- Experience of configuring and troubleshooting cloud integrations (Azure Function Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure Logic Apps).
- Experience in configuring and using Monitoring tools to support the releases (any tools but preference for Azure monitor, App Insights, Log Analytics).
