This is a hybrid role working from our central London hub 2 days per week.

Hi! We're UW. We’re on a mission to take the headache out of utilities by providing them all in one place. One bill for energy, broadband, mobile and insurance and a whole lot of savings!

We’re aiming to double in size as we help more people to stop wasting time and money. Big ambitions, to be delivered by people like you.

Got your attention? Read on…

We put people first. It’s all about you..

We have a massive transformation programme to deliver and we need an experienced Programme Lead, with a background in the Energy industry, to support the business to deliver it. This is a fantastic opportunity to join us at a pivotal point in our journey to deliver a transformational re-platforming programme that will rocket us forward.

Here's the key skills and experience that we're looking for:

  • Significant experience of setting up and driving complex PMOs for transformation programmes. You’ll be used to working closely with Software Engineering, Data and Operational teams
  • Strong knowledge of the Energy industry with a contemporary view of the energy platform ecosystem.
  • Knowledge and experience of a wide range of PMO models and ways of working- we operate in an Agile framework so look for light and effective ways of working rather than highly-bureaucratic processes
  • Experience identifying, addressing and resolving differences between individuals and/or interest groups in a constructive, no-nonsense way
  • Experience with project governance and supporting organisational decision-making
  • Effective and clear communicator, enabling engagement with people at all levels with ability to positively influence colleagues up to executive level, creating assurance across the organisation that 'we've got this'
  • Can build trust and strong relationships by role-modelling positive, people-centric leadership behaviours
  • Self-starter, comfortable building structure in a developing environment
  • Hands on and outcome driven approach but with a strategic-focus - ability to take a big picture view on organisational need and translate into a clear roadmap for delivery
  • You have the ability to ruthlessly prioritise and create clarity from ambiguity
  • Experience working with project management tools and software such as Jira and Trello is desirable
  • A relevant project or change management qualification would be advantageous but we are looking first and foremost for real-life experience
  • You live and breath our cultural DNA and leadership beliefs:
    • We put people first by really knowing our people
    • We work together by being adaptable and trust people to do the right thing
    • We deliver progress by driving performance to achieve results

We've scoped this role as a 2 year contract but we're open to discussions on the best set up for the right candidate.

We work together. Your team and the people you will work with…

You'll report to the Chief Operating Officer and work closely with the Executive to build and drive the transformation programme. This will mean working collaboratively across a range of functions including Engineering, Data, Product, Ops and Commercial. You won't directly manage a team but you'll need to be confident to deliver through others without direct control.

We deliver progress. What you’ll do and how you will make an impact.

This role going to have a huge impact on enabling UW to move faster and do better for our Customers. We're working on tight timeframes so you'll be comfortable with getting up to speed quickly so you can make an impact at pace.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the re-platforming programme for our Energy platform
  • Setup & monitor the pipeline activities for the Energy Platform transformation, as well as emerging activities for transformation projects, respecting the varying scale, nature and complexity of projects undertaken
  • Collaborate with project leads & sponsors to quickly map and understand the current platforms and interdependencies as well as existing projects and status updates
  • Comprehensive stakeholder engagement at all levels up to ELT, to ensure high levels of engagement at each phase of design and implementation
  • Build common guidance, tools and templates to support project managers in delivering against the best practice framework
  • Build an effective reporting structure to track deliverables and benefits realisation, manage dependencies and ensure decisions are escalated to the right level
  • Provide a consolidated view of risk so that themes can be identified, and risk effectively managed
  • Monitor and review compliance with the new processes, to test effectiveness as well as adoption
  • Take ownership of the key success metrics across the product portfolio, and ensure these are updated, properly interpreted and shared with senior leadership on a regular basis
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Finance to ensure alignment of project reporting with financial planning timetables, including annual budget and forecasting exercises
  • Ensure there are robust business cases agreed and approved for all new investments, with clear ROI
  • Work with functional team managers to support colleagues across the organisation in developing project management skills and understanding
  • Act as Change Lead to adopt relevant change management tools and approaches to ensure the long-term success of the new function- keeping a light-touch approach rather than being a slave to the process
  • Ensure goals are on-target throughout the year and identify patterns to project delays, devising potential solutions to reduce/eliminate these.
  • Keep up to date on industry-relevant developments and best practices.

So why pick UW?

We’ve got big ambitions so there’s going to be plenty of challenges. There are also a lot of benefits:

  • An industry benchmarked salary. We’ll share it during your first conversation.
  • Share Options and a Save as You Earn scheme.
  • Hybrid working, with 2 days in the office. (We’re definitely open to discussing flexible working arrangements)
