Purpose of the Role:

The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that all relevant transactional processing is completed timeously and accurately relating to IML and that all income is identified, recorded and reported within the financial systems. In addition to this the role holder will be responsible for the preparation of allocated balance sheet reconciliations and for compliance with all relevant SOx narratives. Contributing to the Intermodal financial controls review, seeking out opportunities to develop the controls framework and continuously improving process efficiency.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Preparation and posting of month end opex and revenue journals and accruals.
  • Preparation of robust month end balance sheet reconciliations for allocated accounts, ensuring all reconciling items are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Highlight areas of concern and liaison with Finance Business Partner and business – to determine and action the appropriate resolution.
  • Perform analytical reviews of Revenue to ensure variances to budget, prior year are understood, documented and any corrective actions identified.
  • Provide clear commentary on Revenue and cost for monthly review packs and provide support to the Finance Business Partner.
  • Develop and enhance the month end close process for Revenue and cost streamlining where necessary.
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with relevant SOX narratives
  • Work in close partnership with the Finance Business Partner to provide accurate, timely overhead commentary of key cost drivers against budget, forecast and prior year.
  • Support the Finance Business Partner to conduct monthly review meetings with budget holders and act as a key point of contact for overhead queries.
  • Challenge current ways of working, driving efficiencies and cost savings wherever possible.
  • Be hands on and get into detail to ensure you understand the cost drivers of the business and can provide insight to any non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Sox narratives and financial controls.
  • Assist with audit queries and analysis, both internally and externally.
  • Provide support to the Finance Business Partner with system upgrades, implementation and project governance and controls.

Key job requirements:

  • Newly Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Confident with all areas of management account analysis
  • Proficient in managing large
  • Determined and proactive - prepared to get into the detail to understand the overhead cost drivers of the business.
  • Good analytical skills and a high attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build healthy working relationship with business stakeholders and interact effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Highly effective organisational and time management skills with the ability to work autonomously, prioritising workload and meet deadlines;
  • IT literate with intermediate Excel skills
